What are the main steps of admission to Lumen Veritatis Academy?
There is an application form as well as a form to be filled out by the student’s previous school. Students and their parents may be required to attend an interview to discuss past learning experiences. Past report cards from previous schools will be required to ensure the student is placed in the appropriate grade level.
How can I pay?
Full payment of the total tuition amount can be paid in advance or 10 post-dated cheques can be given, dated the 15th of every month beginning Sept 15th. Either method must be fully submitted by September 1st.
Are there other costs not covered in the Tuition?
Personal school materials such as binders, pencils, erasers, etc. and some extra workbooks will be the responsibility of each student. Uniforms can be purchased from Inschoolwear. Also an enrollment fee of $275.00 is required to purchase texts and learning materials.
How do I apply or qualify for tuition assistance?
Parents are expected to fully contribute toward the tuition cost. Requests for assistance are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
When was the school founded?
In the 2007-2008 school year a successful pilot project was launched in Hamilton, Ontario. The 2008 -2009 school year was the first official year for Lumen Veritatis Academy. There are now campuses in Mississauga and Thornhill.
Is there any transportation provided by school?
There is no transportation provided by the school yet. We are looking into offering this service.
Is there any before and after school programs? What would the cost be
Yes we do have after school programs. The cost varies depending on the type of activities.
Does Lumen Veritatis Academy meet Ontario curriculum standards?
Yes, Lumen Veritatis Academy not only meets the provincial curriculum standards of Ontario, but also exceeds these required academic demands and expectations. In addition to a varied and integrated curriculum, our approach is to teach students strategies to develop independent learning and self motivation.
Where are the Campuses located?
The Thornhill Campus is located at 191 Wade Gate, Thornhill, Ontario, L4J 5Y4 On August 15, 2011, our Campus in Streetsville, Mississauga was open as well. It is located at 225 Broadway Street, Mississauga, ON L5M 1H9
Is Lumen Veritatis Co-educational?
Yes, it is a co-educational academy.
At what grade does Lumen Veritatis Academy begin?
The Academy is open to students from grades JK-8. Our high school is only for students already enrolled in the elementary school.
How much is tuition?
The tuition is $5000.00. The Kindergarten tuition is $5,500.
What important dates do I need to remember?
Registration begin February 3rd. Important dates for Open Houses and Information Sessions will be posted on the school website. Families will have an opportunity to view the grounds, the Academy and speak with staff during these events.
How will I know if I have been accepted?
All candidates will be notified by either telephone or mail as soon as all required documents (i.e. previous year’s academic transcripts and any additional information requested) are obtained.
Are there any priests or religious, teaching at the school?
A priest of the Heralds of the Gospel will be available for Mass and Confession at the Academy when possible. Religion classes are given by brothers of the Heralds of the Gospel, an association of pontifical right.

Are siblings given preference for admission?
Siblings or relatives of former students will be considered like all other new students.
What is required of parents of children who are home schooled?
Parents of home schooled children will be asked to fill out the Student profile of the Application for Admission form and other pertinent forms as required.
Will children with special needs be eligible for admission?
At this time the school does not have the necessary facilities or personnel in place to effectively accommodate students who have emotional or behavioural problems or who have learning disabilities that require special programs. Students who need specialized assistance in the classroom or alternative programs unfortunately cannot be accepted at this time. We pray that before too long we will be able to meet these needs.
